Explaining Procedures – Sequence words and phrases
To help you with explaining procedures, you can use certain words to show a sequence of events.
To explain the order in which certain things are done
First ... First of all ... Initially... Next ... The next thing you have to do is... Then ... After that... After you (have done that / do that) ... Finally ... ...And then finally... Lastly... Afterwards...
To add a further point
Make sure you (don't forget to)... Oh, and by the way, don't forget to... Oh, and be careful not to ... Make sure you.../ Make sure you don't...
To check that the other person is following you, or has understood
