Dear Subscribers

The January 2007 issue of Workplace English Training E-Magazine is now live.

Our speaking topics this month are Negotiating Agreements and Telephone Sales Techniques. The negotiating topic includes a bumper 15-minute-long podcast lesson which we hope you'll download to your PC or mp3 player and listen to when you get a few spare minutes.

In the writing skills section our main topic is Using Linking Words and Phrases in business documents. We've also added an interesting new exercise type to the Common Errors in Business Writing section (exercises 3-6), which we think you'll find challenging yet enjoyable.

The first of this month's reading articles concerns the strenthening value of China's currency, the yuan, and how this is worrying Hong Kong. The second article is about the Hong Kong government's abandoned plan to impose a sales tax.

Our revamp of the Subscriber's Area is almost complete. From next month, all the community features, including the blog and help forum, will be active. And, after downloading a small setup programme, you'll be able to record your own voice directly from the site and compare it with the original recordings we use in the speaking section. This will be a great way for you to improve your pronunciation and intonation!

Finally, I and my production team would just like to wish you a happy New Year and good fortune throughout 2007.
