The Key to Writing Professional Email

Our Business Emailing course is a 6-week course designed to help your staff write more effective emails. Participants will cover one module per week and be expected to spend 2-3 hours per week online, reading, discussing and completing tasks. Business email models and guidance on planning, language are provided and can be readily integrated into email writing in the workplace.

Learning objectives:

By the end of the course participants be able to:

  • Apply key writing principles to work-specific email;

  • Understand the purpose(s) and/or action(s) of email received;

  • Plan, structure and organise email logically and coherently;

  • Use standard functional expressions to create a more business-like tone;

  • Write in plain English using clear and concise expression;

  • Use an appropriate and consistent writing style; and

  • Vary the tone to suit the reader and nature of correspondence.

Who is the course for?

The course is for all levels of staff who would benefit from further developing their emailing skills. Non-native speakers would be required to have an intermediate plus level of English.

The Key to Writing Effective Reports

Our report writing course is a 6-week course designed to help staff plan and present clear and effective reports that capture the interest of the audience and achieve their objectives with logical arguments and persuasive recommendations. Participants will cover one module per week and be expected to spend 2-3 hours per week online, reading, discussing and completing tasks.

Learning objectives

By the end of the course participants will be able to:

  • Identify report objectives and plan and structure a report
  • Develop a clear and effective introduction, body and conclusion
  • Write longer, more complex reports that readers will find clear and incisive
  • Write logically and persuasively so that recommendations are accepted more often
  • Present reports in a style that establishes credibility and enhances reputation
  • Develop key writing checklists

Our Business Writing Skills course is a 6-week course designed to help your staff write effective emails, reports and proposals. The course will cover the whole writing process from planning to proof reading, and provide guidance on style, tone, register and use of language, all of which can be readily incorporated into the workplace. Participants will be expected to spend 2-3 hours per week online, reading, discussing and completing tasks.

  • Select an appropriate style and tone to create a positive impression on the reader

The Key to Giving Inspiring Presentations

Our Inspiring Presentations course is a 6-week course designed to help staff plan and deliver inspiring presentations, develop confidence in their presenting skills and effectively deal with audience questions. Participants will cover one module per week and be expected to spend 2-3 hours per week online, reading, discussing and completing tasks.

Learning objectives

By the end of the course participants will be able to:

  • Structure an effective presentation with clear objectives and message
  • Identify their audience and match their message to the audience
  • Create a positive first impression and establish their credibility
  • Develop an opening and connect with the audience
  • Use signposting techniques to direct an audience
  • Get their message across and sell their ideas
  • Effectively close a presentation
  • Use survival tactics to overcome nerves
  • Effectively deal with a Q and A session

The course is for all levels of staff who need to deliver effective presentations in the workplace. Non-native speakers would be required to have an intermediate plus level of English.
